Slumdog

For me, slumdog millionaire is not my type of movie. I am more into action, drama, and comical movies. Although there were parts of it that I could relate to because I grew up in San Diego so living in a vast population with wide spread culture can be challenging especially when they conflict. America has become a place where multi cultural life dominates society but where we are all slaves to them same game, money. Don’t get me wrong I would not want to live anywhere else in the world. The problem is that in our society we are one decision from losing everything, our homes, cars, and families because of the amount of money we have. I guess the movie made me realize that if I don’t work as hard as I can I could be living in a slum similar to the one in Mumbai in the movie.
Even though we live in a multicultural society the movie also reminded me of the frustration I get every time I pick up the phone for customer service and I get someone in India. I respect who they are and that they are just trying to provided for their families just like me but it is so hard to understand their accent. I got to admit the actors accents were not as bad but that was something I was worried about before I watched the movie. I guess it was because I just had to argue with a guy in India about a phone bill before I watched the movie.
I definitely was surprised by the lack of basic essential in a city with that many people. If I’m not mistaken Mumbai is one of the largest cities in the world the lack of electricity, sewer, and some places running water was surprising. Since I grew up in southern California I got a chance to spend quite of bit of time in Mexico which is a similar third world country. I could not imagine the chaos if all of a sudden we as Americans had to drink the same water that we bathed in and washed our clothing. With most of the population living like that in India I am shockingly surprised that more diseases is not more apart of everyday life. I mean look at how the spread of the plague almost wiped the population because of living in tight cramped quarters and not having a viable way to remove sewage. I must admit that I am not a fan of a movie with subtitles which also made it difficult to watch. After watching the film I also realized that India would not be a destination on my travel list. I genuinely feel bad that people live that way and if there was something I could do I would but where would you start. I do respect Jamal because against all odds he triumphed which is what all of us as human beings are striving to do. The one part of the movie that I did enjoy was that no matter what the odds as long as you work hard and have hope nothing can stop a person from achieving their goals.

Wow

Thought I would get a couple of responses on here and everyone would take me sarcasticly. Was serious about the family and the fact I've never done blogging so I guess we'll see what happens.

Dont believe in them or see the point I guess I'm just more private and have better things to do with my time than to tell the world what I'm doing all day. Lets hope I dont fail because of blogging.
